RAKEZ free zone business setup

RAKEZ (Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone) licenses both free zone and non-free zone companies, from freelancers to manufacturers. We check your activity against RAKEZ's official lists and prepare your application with you.

Overview

How RAKEZ company setup works

RAKEZ, the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, is a business licensing authority established by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah. It licenses free zone and non-free zone companies, which makes it unusual among UAE free zones.

In the free zone, RAKEZ offers a Free Zone Establishment (FZE) with one shareholder, a Free Zone Company (FZC) with several, and branches. Facilities range from flexi-desks and offices to warehouses and land in its industrial and business zones, including Al Ghail, Al Hamra and Al Hulaila.

RAKEZ states license options for more than 3,000 business activities across over 50 sectors. We check your activity against its official lists and explain whether a free zone or non-free zone license suits your plans.

Our part

What we do, and what we don't

Clear boundaries, so you know exactly what you're paying for and who decides each step.

Included

  • A check that RAKEZ lists your exact activity, and which approvals it names
  • A comparison with one or two other zones, if another fits you better
  • Application forms prepared, typed and submitted to RAKEZ
  • Document checks, plus translation and attestation guidance for corporate shareholders
  • Follow-up with the zone until it makes a decision
  • Post-license guidance on your establishment card, visas and corporate tax registration

Not included

  • We don't issue RAKEZ licenses; the zone's authority decides.
  • We don't decide bank account applications; banks apply their own policies.
  • Work outside the free zone needs separate approvals; we explain the options, the authorities decide.
  • We don't give legal or tax advice on complex group structures; a licensed adviser can.
Documents

Documents you'll need

  • Passport copies for all shareholders and the manager
  • Emirates ID and residence visa copies, if you live in the UAE
  • Your chosen activities and a shortlist of trade name options
  • A short business plan or activity description, if the zone asks for one
  • For corporate shareholders: certificate of incorporation, constitutional documents, a board resolution and a good standing letter, attested for UAE use

RAKEZ sets its own document list; we confirm it for your activity before you apply.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is the difference between a RAKEZ free zone and non-free zone license?

RAKEZ licenses both. A free zone company operates under the free zone's rules, while a non-free zone company is licensed by RAKEZ for activities outside the free zone, and each route has its own activity list. We compare both against your activity, customers and premises so you can choose before you apply.

What company types does RAKEZ offer?

In the free zone, RAKEZ offers a Free Zone Establishment (FZE) with a single shareholder, a Free Zone Company (FZC) with multiple shareholders, and branch setups for existing companies. It also offers non-free zone company formation. We check which structure fits your shareholders and activity, and what documents RAKEZ asks for.

Can I get a warehouse or land in RAKEZ?

RAKEZ lists warehouses in various sizes that can be customised, and land for development, including industrial plots, in zones such as Al Ghail, Al Hamra and Al Hulaila. Smaller businesses can start with flexi facilities or offices instead. We match the facility to your activity and visa needs before you apply.

How much does RAKEZ setup cost?

It depends on your activities, the license term, whether you choose free zone or non-free zone, your facility and how many visas you need. Rather than a headline price that may not fit your plans, your consultant sends a written quotation with every RAKEZ fee and our service fee shown separately, so you can compare before you pay anything.
