Diploma certificate attestation

A diploma or vocational certificate earned abroad often needs attesting before a UAE employer or licensing body will accept it. We work out the route for the institution that issued it, prepare your documents and handle each submission, and the verifying body, the UAE embassy and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) carry out the checks and stamps.

Overview

How diploma attestation works

Diplomas cover a wide range of qualifications, from technical and vocational training to post-secondary programmes in nursing, hospitality, engineering and IT. UAE employers in these fields often want to see the diploma attested, and so do some licensing bodies, before they accept it as proof of your training.

The chain is the same as for other education documents: confirmation in the issuing country where it is required, then the foreign ministry, the UAE embassy or consulate there, and MOFA. What differs is the first stage. A diploma from a technical board, college or training institute may be verified by a different body from a university degree, depending on the country, and we confirm which one applies to you.

Good to know

Details that save time

Is a diploma different from a degree?

The attestation chain is the same, but the first stage often isn't. Degrees are usually confirmed by the university or the education ministry, while diplomas can come from technical boards, colleges or private training providers that answer to a different authority. Where a provider isn't recognised in its own country, that first stage may not be possible at all, so we check before you send anything.

Ask on WhatsApp
Can a diploma be attested for UAE jobs?

Yes. Diplomas and vocational certificates can be attested in the same way as degrees, provided the authorities in the issuing country can verify them. Many UAE employers in technical, healthcare and hospitality roles ask for an attested diploma. Whether it meets a particular job's requirements is the employer's or regulator's decision.

Is the process different from a degree?

The stages after verification are the same: the foreign ministry, the UAE embassy in the issuing country and then MOFA. The difference is usually who verifies the diploma at the start. That may be a technical board, a college or an education authority rather than a university, and we confirm which applies to yours.

Which documents do I need for diploma attestation?

You'll need the original diploma, not laminated, and a clear copy of your passport. If your employer or regulator wants your marks too, bring the original mark sheets or transcript. Any stamps already on the documents matter, so send us photos of both sides and we'll confirm what's still needed.

Do my mark sheets need attesting too?

Only if the receiving body asks for them. Some employers and licensing bodies want to see your marks, while others accept the diploma alone. MOFA treats each mark sheet or transcript as a separate document from the certificate, so attesting them adds to the government fees. We check the requirement first.

How much does diploma certificate attestation cost?

At the UAE stage, MOFA charges AED 150 for the diploma and AED 150 for each mark sheet or transcript you attest with it, as each counts as a separate document. The technical board or college, the foreign ministry and the UAE embassy in the issuing country set their own fees, which vary and are paid at cost. We confirm which documents your employer actually needs, then quote our fee in writing.

How long does diploma attestation take?

It depends mostly on the body that verifies your diploma in the issuing country, such as a technical board, college or education authority, which works to its own schedule. After that, the foreign ministry and the UAE embassy add their stamps. For the final step, MOFA's service page gives 1 to 3 business days for courier-based attestation inside the UAE at the time of writing. We give you an estimate for your route first.

Can a diploma from a private training institute be attested?

It can if the authorities in the issuing country will verify it. MOFA only attests documents that have already been attested by the appropriate governing bodies, so a certificate from a provider that isn't recognised in its own country may stall at the first stage. Whether a UAE employer then accepts the diploma is its own decision. Send us the certificate and the provider's details, and we check before you pay for anything.
